Natural-light family, maternity, newborn, senior, couples and wedding photography across Metro Detroit. Pick your county or city to see local favorite spots and session details — or jump straight to a session type.

I'm Maria — a natural-light lifestyle photographer based in Canton, and I photograph families, expecting parents, newborns, seniors, couples and weddings across the greater Metro Detroit area. In practice that means 12 cities spread over 3 counties, from the Detroit riverfront out to the gardens and river trails of Washtenaw County.

"Metro Detroit" covers a lot of ground, and the difference between one corner of it and another genuinely matters for your photos. Downtown Ferndale and Royal Oak give you murals and color; Birmingham is polished and classic; Plymouth and Northville have storybook historic downtowns; Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti bring gardens, river trails and prairie. Rather than shoot everyone in the same field, I'd rather help you pick the spot that actually suits the photos you have in mind — which is why every city below has its own page with real local locations and the seasons they're best in.

If you're just outside these cities, reach out anyway. Travel throughout the greater Metro Detroit area is always welcome, and the best sessions often happen somewhere that already means something to you.

Metro Detroit photography FAQ

What areas does Metro Detroit cover for a photo session?+

I serve 12 cities across Wayne County, Oakland County, Washtenaw County — including Detroit, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ferndale, Novi, Canton, Plymouth, Northville, Livonia, Westland, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. I'm based in Canton, and travel throughout the greater Metro Detroit area is always welcome.

What kinds of sessions do you photograph in Metro Detroit?+

Maternity, newborn, family, senior portrait, couples and engagement, and wedding sessions — plus headshots and small events. Everything is natural light and focused on genuine connection rather than stiff posing.

Do you photograph senior and graduation portraits in Metro Detroit?+

Yes — senior and graduation portraits are one of the most requested sessions I shoot. We can use your campus, your hometown's downtown, or an open field at golden hour, and most seniors get several distinct looks in one session.

How do I choose where to shoot?+

Every city page lists real local spots with the season and light each one is best in, so you can browse by where you live or by the look you want. If somewhere already matters to your family — a park you walk, the campus where you met — that's usually the better choice, and we can shoot there instead.
